Meet Dr. Swenson

Dr. Swenson is a native of Emporia, having lived in the area his entire life. He graduated from Greensville County High School.

Dr. Swenson attended Virginia Tech and received his Bachelor of Science in Biology. Shortly after he was accepted as an early applicant to Medical College of Virginia where he completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. 

Upon graduating from dental school, Dr. Swenson went on to receive his one-year residency in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program from the Medical College of Virginia.

In 1996, to better balance the needs of being both a new dad and a practicing dentist, Dr. Swenson established his own private practice located in Emporia. Within those 26 years his passion has only grown, and he firmly believes that learning never ends. Dr. Swenson continues his education by attending courses and seminars to remain up to date with the ever-evolving field. 

When not in the office, Dr. Swenson is a master of inspiration quotes, enjoys the outdoors, attending Virginia Tech football games, and most of all, spending time with his wife and children.

He is married to wife, Kelly, and has two beautiful children, the youngest of which just graduated from ECU. He is deeply committed to his faith, a second-generation member of St. John Lutheran Church, and regularly contributes to mission work and helping people in need.

He believes God prepared him for his role as he unknowingly did much to develop fine hand skills growing up.  He has an eye for symmetry and has always enjoyed the art and creativity of dentistry.
